The “pearl of the Rhön” — a striking viewpoint with a ruined castle. Especially fine in winter.

  • Cycling

    Cycling

The Hochrhönring runs 180 kilometres through the region; the Rhönexpress cycle path follows 26 kilometres of a disused railway line starting in Wildflecken.

When it rains

The Rhön has weather. These places work anyway — all of them 25 to 45 minutes away.

Night sky

  • Rhön Dark Sky Reserve

    Rhön Dark Sky Reserve

The Rhön is one of the darkest places in Germany. On clear nights you see more from here than most people ever have — stepping outside the door is enough.
